GAIN THE ACTION LEARNING EDGE
Action Learning (AL) has
been around and widely used for the best part of fifty years by some of the
world's leading business educators and most far-sighted organizations, plus
individuals simply looking for solutions to their personal problems. AL is a win/win
individual and company approach to learning and development which at the same
time is capable of resolving significant business, organizational and social
problems. It is a form of learning through experience, "by doing",
where the classroom is one's job environment or personal surroundings. AL
emphasizes personal responsibility for learning, although supportive but
challenging learning partnerships are made available. Nothing else feels how
action learning feels. No traditional training program can prepare a person for
the first time they fire someone, or are blocked by a politically motivated
colleague, or are confronted with an angry customer. In the end, we can only
learn about it by doing it, and then reflecting carefully on what happened,
making sense of the lessons, and working through how the learning can be built
on and used next time around.
Since the mid-90's The
International Foundation for Action Learning - Canada (IFALC) has been at the
forefront in the introduction and implementation of AL in Canada, and
internationally in collaboration with other national IFAL Chapters and AL
communities. In 2003 IFALC broadened its role from an information source to a
service provider. In this new capacity IFALC will make available AL consultancy
resources, AL groups ("Sets"), AL facilitator ("Set
Advisor") certification programmes, as well as continuing to sponsor AL
workshops, conferences and research.
Together with its
worldwide partners IFALC has the knowhow and experience to help you readily
become familiar with the processes and benefits of AL, and to assist you in
successfully implementing or upgrading your AL-related initiatives. If you or
your enterprise anticipates undertaking Action Learning, or optimizing your
usage of this important approach, why not check us out?
