INTERNATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR ACTION LEARNING - UK
The International
Foundation for Action Learning - UK (IFALUK) is a registered charity and a
company limited by guarantee. With the blessing of Reg Revans, Action
Learning's originator, it was set up in 1977 in the United Kingdom as The
Action Learning Trust to promote action learning on an international scale. In
the early 80's it was reborn as the International Foundation for Action
Learning which in 2000 became IFALUK. IFALUK's aim is to identify and encourage
a network of enthusiasts to support and develop the work of action learning
worldwide. Currently IFALUK forms the umbrella under which national chapters
and their members can operate and interact; IFALUK also acts as the UK Chapter.
Membership in these Chapters includes both individuals and organizations.
Currently IFAL Chapters
exist in UK, Canada, USA, and Sweden. Formal action learning
groups have been founded in Australia, Holland, Germany, and South Africa.
Through Internet and face-to-face interaction with its chapters and other
groups, IFALUK promotes the concept of a global Action Learning village. The
IFALUK network includes managers, management developers, change agents,
educators, students, consultants, and every-day people as either private
individuals or corporate members.
Chapter membership
provides formal and informal opportunities on an international basis to meet
with and learn from others engaged in practicing action learning as a way to:
solve problems and enhance performance; develop our understanding of the
process; identify ways to extend our experience of action learning; develop our
skills as practitioners in action learning; and increase our understanding of
the radical implications and benefits of action learning for organizations.
