Tony Droar

Tony Droar has over 40 years experience in both the public and private sectors, including internal and external consultancy roles with Mouchel Management Consulting, Local Government (West Sussex County Council), ICL (Fujitsu), Further Education (Chichester College), and IBM. Tony has excellent facilitation and presentation skills and a strong background in project and programme management.

Tony has specialist knowledge and experience in strategy development; business transformation and change; organisational development; knowledge management; performance and service improvement using lean/systems thinking; and change management. In addition, Tony has considerable practical experience in enhancing innovation and creativity, coaching and mentoring at all levels. Tony is a passionate life long learner and he is a certified Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) practitioner and coach.

Tony has in-depth experience in:

  • Strategy design and development using scenario planning, Business Excellence Model, Strategy Maps and Balanced Score Card, visioning workshops and rich pictures

  • Business transformation and change including process design, management and organizational improvement using system/lean thinking approaches and cultural change considerations

  • Organisational development using narrative & complexity concepts, open space methods, emotional intelligence and coaching/mentoring

  • Knowledge management & communities of interest/action including formal and shadow groups; techniques and approaches to communicating and sharing of knowledge; learning networks (across functions); and organisational learning

  • Performance management and service improvement using a combination of systems thinking and lean, based on Deming and Toyota approaches. Tony has primarily worked on processes and services in Local Government.

  • Change management including Managing Successful Programmes methodology; systemic approaches; Appreciative Inquiry and knowledge cafés

  • Innovation and creativity including use of mind maps, brainstorming, morphological analysis, etc. and the impact of management style and organisational culture on creativity; and how the decision making models adopted influence innovation and creativity

  • Coaching/mentoring including performance management, skills improvement, and personal development. Tony has coached self-managed learning sets to produce and implement Personal Development Plans (as pioneered by Roffey Park on their MBA)

  • Teaching, lecturing and facilitating learning with a wide variety of workshops, seminars, courses, and programmes designed, developed and delivered
